Definitely consider this if you’re in the market for a new compact, outdoor-friendly speaker. Solid build, no issues pairing with any devices, and excellent battery life. I’m not an audiophile but it sounds great across multiple music styles; strong but not overpowering bass, with full and robust output for such a small device. Haven’t put the waterproof and dust ratings to the test, but it’s nice knowing there’s additional protection from the elements.

I wanted to review three JBL speakers, comparatively, in one go. I have in front of me now the Flip 6, Xtreme 2 and Xtreme 3. I started with the Flip 6, to replace some aging Bose soundlink Micros (Flip 6 is way better than both Bose Micro and Flex, IMO). Overall, of the three the Flip 6 is the best bang for the buck…great range of sound, decent volume and bass for indoor use. Does distort a little at max volume. I then got the Xtreme 3 with high hopes. It has tremendously crisp highs, deep lows, but it is VERY lacking in the midrange…the sound feels hollow, empty. Might be OK for synthetic music, but for anything instrumental I was disappointed. What I did find is if you pair the Flip 6 with the Xtreme 3 in party mode, they together sound very good. The Flip 6 fills the holes in the sound of the Xtreme 3, the Xtreme 3 expands the sound of the Flip 6. A great pairing…but now you need two speakers. So then I got the Xtreme 2…which I will be keeping instead of the Xtreme 3. The treble isn’t as crisp, the base maybe not quite as low, but it has good midrange, a much more balanced sound. A good way to explain it might be that the Xtreme 3 is better for drums/beats but the Xtreme 2 is better for bass and rhythm guitar. I wish that the Xtreme 2 could do party mode with the Flip 6, I bet that would be awesome, but the Xtreme 2 doesn’t pair with the newer ones. The Flip 6 I think has slightly better range than the Xtreme 2, but it isn’t as powerful sounding. Xtreme 2 gets louder and doesn’t seem to distort at high volume. In conclusion, from my perspective: the Flip 6 is the better overall, bang for the buck, for indoor use. The Xtreme 2 is really good, would take if over the Flip 6 for outdoors and wouldn’t be sad to have it in the house. The Xtreme 3 alone is just plain lacking…but if used in conjunction with the Flip 6,together are quite good. Xtreme 3 plus Flip 6 is louder and crisper than Xtreme 2 alone, a bit better range but not as powerful of a tone and still not as balanced in the mids.

I have neither the disposable income nor sonic vocabulary to consider myself an audiophile, but I appreciate good sound and easy-to-use products. The JBL Flip 6 embodies both qualities. For its size (roughly comparable to a fast-casual burrito), specs, and price, this speaker sounds fantastic. I listen to a variety of music that includes jazz fusion, 70s prog rock, and EDM. All sound quite pleasant. In both loudness and sound quality, this speaker provides a large and unequivocal step up from the built-in speakers of any smartphone, tablet, or laptop. The sound mix out of the box is reasonably well-balanced, with punchy bass and subtly boosted mids and highs. As long as the speaker is on a solid surface, I couldn’t detect distortion until the volume was well over 75%. Certain higher-pitched vocals can sound overboosted and tinny, but that’s easy to mitigate by adjusting the equalizer in the JBL mobile app.The speaker’s user interface is simple and relatively intuitive. The power and Bluetooth pairing buttons are recessed and located on the bottom, which helps prevent them from getting pressed accidentally. I wish these buttons offered a little more tactile feedback when pressed and included a nubbin on the power button to more easily locate it by feel, but these aren’t dealbreakers. The USB-C charging port is also on the bottom. Play/pause, volume controls, and button to activate JBL’s wireless daisy-chaining feature are on top. Just turn on the speaker, press the Bluetooth pairing button, and select “JBL Flip 6” in your device’s Bluetooth settings.I understand why the JBL Flip series has been so popular. These speakers are portable, durable, sound great, and easy-to-use.

Using it as a speaker for my gaming PC and just for playing my music aloud. Incredible sound quality, booming bass, amazing battery life, and no problems connecting with Bluetooth. It also matched my pink setup, lol! My husband and I both have one for similar purposes and I could not recommend these enough. Worth the price!

My last speaker was a charge 3 that lasted 7 years! The battery just died and I needed a replacement. I got the green one for me and the blue one for my wife. The Flip 6 is smaller and just as powerful if not more so in sound and battery life. More portable and sounds amazing!!

Replaced an older speaker for the garage. Sounds good and lasts a while. Quality seems good and connects easily. Has an app if you want to make fine adjustments to tone, then remembers the settings

So let start off by I’m old school when it comes to selecting speaker. I have a massive surround system that sound great! I stumbled across the little speaker by accident. So I was doing a cell phone upgrade and they asked if I wanted a Bluetooth speaker versus 2 wireless stands… I opted for the Bluetooth speaker as I had 2 wireless stands that work great. So I hooked this little flip 6 up and was amazed by the sound of this little thing. So I was doing a bit of research and finding that I could hook other speakers. So I opted to pick up another flip 6 and put them into stereo mode. I was floored by the sound out of these little speakers and the stereo field was amazing too!!! So then I was wanting to see how the charge 5 would stack up and then combine them. The one charge 5 has an edge on the bass but the mids and highs of the flip 6 held there ground and sounded a bit better to me. Now I starting thinking of 2.1 sound and this is where everything just shined very bright. Have the best of both worlds highs mids and lows in 3 small speakers!!! Some of the music that I demonstrate in this set up was Rush – The Weapon.. this has some really nice percussion section with some stereo left to right separation. I also played Led Zeppelin’s- Stairway To Heaven for the same reasons or the stereo left to right separation and over rounded sound. Great news it passes with flying colors and I give these 5 stars all day long. I’d like to pick up the extreme 3 and give it a go in this set up as it has the AUX jack that would make it useful enough to hook up external AM/FM with USB and SD card. In closing don’t overlook these speaker I really enjoy my little speaker and I’m sure you’ll love too!!!! Update with about a week of playing some music and experimenting. The flip 6 turn on its end with tweeters up will produce the best sound and great sound stage. It does better in the vertical position cause the woofer and tweeter vertically aligned give better sound stage hence the vertical axis. Now pair it with a second and you’ll have killer stereo mode. And the charge 5 to the center and you will love the sound as it acts like a sub reinforcement.

JBL doesn’t disappoint, not sure why there are people giving it 1 star reviews… pretty sure they are trying to get something free.Anyway, for the size of this little speaker and the output of the bass is amazing. Has a lanyard ( optional ) to carry around/attach to your bag etc.The camo ( opc ) is awesome. The material is the same water resistant and dust proof as the other JBL speakers. You can remove easily to clean.I have woodland camo charge 4, Black charge 5The sound isn’t as Rich and bassy as them, however i use this speaker at a little less than half volume, around 30% and WOW!!!!Mainly use it at work, connected to phone and switch. No connection issues, and party mode with my charge 5 is AWESOME!!!! Perfect surround sound lol.I bought this cyber Monday for 80$

It’s hard finding portable speakers that don’t sound distorted or tinny when I listen to the different of genres metal I like. Brand of Sacrifice sounds almost as clear as with headphones, and the heavy bass and vocals of Lorna Shore is picked up clearly, Disembodied Tyrant’s many awesome riffs sound almost crystal clear, same goes for Begat The Nephilim, even Cradle of Filth’s high notes and symphonic/orchestral sounds are almost good as with headphones. Plus, even though this thing is roughly the size of a tall beer can, I can still hear it pretty clearly in the next room. Feels like it’s made out of silicone or rubber or something, like if it got dropped on the ground it probably wouldn’t damage it much. Can’t believe it’s only ~$100 for this awesome little thing.
