I tried a less expensive printer cartridge and experienced ink smearing. I purchased this to replace the cheaper cartridge and it works well, no smearing. It is more expensive, but “you get what you pay for”.

Over the life of my Brother HL-L2340DW printer, I’ve tried two different highly-rated 3rd-party toner cartridges in an attempt to save a few bucks. Both times, I had poor adhesion, streaking, and smudges on the paper.On the most recent occasion, I thought the poor performance was due to normal wear and tear on the decade-old device, and was about to take my poor old printer to e-waste disposal… but recalling my previous experience, I decided to give it one last shot with a fresh Brother-branded cartridge–and suddenly, my printer was printing almost like new! I’m getting clean, clear prints with no smudging, and I couldn’t be happier. Yes, it’s more expensive than a no-name cartridge… but it’s cheaper than a new printer!

Brother toner cartridges uniformly fade to light gray when their life runs out. New cartridge now prints a deep black. Great value for home office use.

The order quickly arrived after my toner cartridge that I’ve used for years finally gave out. The cartridge was easy to install and immediately started printing without any problems. Time will tell whether the replacement cartridge will last nearly as long.

I only use brother original brand and the high yield toner cartridge so I can get about 2600 prints. And make sure there are no compatibility issues. I have never had any issues with brother brand and I have been using it for 14 plus years now.
