While rare, we know the adorably gormless-looking Numb Pokémon, Numel, and its evolution, Camerupt, are both available to catch in Pokémon GO. But what about their perspective shiny variants?
For those looking to complete a full shiny dex in Pokémon GO, it’s imperative to know which shinies are available, as – unlike most of the mainline games – they are not always made available at the same time as their non-shiny counterparts. So, is there a chance of encountering Shiny Numel in the Wild or in Raids? Let’s find out.
Is shiny Numel available in Pokémon GO?
Unfortunately, at the time of writing on May 10, 2022, shiny Numel is still not available in Pokémon GO. Numel’s non-shiny form made its Pokémon GO debut back in January 2018, so it feels long-overdue for its color-variant form to join it. Although Numel is the focus of a May Spotlight Hour, and regularly appears in One-Star Raids, it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer for its blue-humped alternate.
Is shiny Camerupt in Pokémon GO?
As shiny Numel is not yet available in Pokémon GO, neither is its evolutionary form, Camerupt. As soon as Numel’s shiny variant is available, though, it is very likely you’ll be able to evolve it into a shiny Camerupt.
How to evolve Numel into Camerupt
Evolving Numel into Camerupt is a simple process, requiring just 50 Numel Candies. The only problem with this is that Numel is a relatively rare Pokémon in Pokémon GO, so don’t forget to utilize those Pinap Berries when you do encounter them.
Numel Spotlight Hour — May 10, 2022
Despite being unavailable in its shiny form, Numel is the focus of the Pokémon GO Spotlight Hour on May 10, 2022. Between 6pm and 7pm local time, you’ll see an increased number of Numel appearing in the wild. While you won’t be able to catch a shiny, take this opportunity to gather some rare Numel Candies, and maybe even catch yourself a strong Numel to evolve into a battle-worthy Camerupt.
You can also take advantage of the Spotlight Hour bonus which, for May 10, 2022, is double the Candy for transferring Pokémon. Therefore, not only will you be able to gather even more Numel Candies from all those spares you catch, but get some storage admin done, clear out those unwanted sprites, and earn double Candies for them all.
