Last Updated:

Coinciding with the retail release of the game on May 3, 2022, sifu has received its first major content update, and the first update of the recently revealed content roadmap. Below, we take a look through the main patch notes that has been rolled out as part of the Sifu Spring Update, including new difficulty options and avatar customization.

Sifu Content Update Roadmap

The Spring update brings a selection of new features for you to add additional customization to your gameplay.

New Sifu Difficulty options

Before the Sifu Spring Update, players were restricted to one standard difficulty. Now, though, players can select between three different difficulties; Student, Disciple and Master.

Student (Easy)

Slightly easier than the original Sifu difficulty. If you’ve been struggling to progress until now, this could be the option for you. Enemies are less aggressive and less reactive in defense, and the Death counter cannot go past 1. You will also find you receive better shrine rewards as a Student.

Disciple (Medium)

Disciple, the medium difficulty setting, correlates to the original Sifu experience, so if you were happy as it was, stick with the Disciple difficulty. No changes have been made.

Master (Hard)

In contrast to Student mode, enemies are more reactive and more aggressive when playing at Master difficulty. You’ll also find there are new patterns for bosses, so gameplay will have changed slightly if you are replaying at the higher difficulty level.

Three New Sifu Outfits

Wude and Vengeance

The off-white Wude outfit, shown in the roadmap infographic, is now available for players to earn in-game, as is the Vengeance outfit. Both are available to everyone, regardless of game version.

Young Man Suit

The Young Man Suit (also available for the female lead character) is a showy Black Suit with a bright red shirt. This new outfit is automatically available for all players who purchase the Deluxe version of the game.

You will also notice you can change Outfits in a new interactive wardrobe in Wuguan.

New Sifu Advanced training mode

The existing training mode has been updated, allowing you to replay the tutorial. You’ll also find that most in-game enemies are now included in the training room, as long as you have unlocked them in the main game. In addition, you can now train against multiple enemies at the same time.

Dark Mode added, and other UI improvements

Dark Mode changes the background of menu screens, while the backgrounds in light mode are also slightly less bright than they were previously. Changes have also been made to the pop-ups you see when making important choices, making the decision and consequences clearer.

That’s all the major content changes that have come with the Spring Update, with the likes of a reply editor, a change to scoring and even more new outfits coming in future updates. If you still haven’t picked up Sifu, now’s a great time to get involved. Pick up the PC version on Steam, or take a look at the brand-new retail versions for PC and PS4/PS5. And if you are planning to play on PC, take a look at the Sifu System Requirements first.
