Godox has announced the Godox TL120 RGB Tube Light. This new fixture expands on the previously released TL30 & TL60 offerings from the Chinese manufacturer. On the whole, they offer good quality, easily controllable, and affordable lighting to filmmakers on a budget. Let’s dive in and see what they can do!
Godox is a brand that has been around for quite some time. Originally founded to provide consumers with professional lighting for photography, they have in recent years branched out to offer products for videography. Though they mainly produce lights, it’s important to note that they also sell audio equipment and monitors.
Godox TL120 RGB Tube Light
The Godox TL120 is the big brother to the TL60, which was announced back in December 2020.
TL120 Key Features
- Color: 2700-6500K, CRI/TLCI: 96/98
- Built-In Rechargeable Battery
- 0-100% Dimming & RGB Control
- Phone, DMX, 2.4 GHz Wireless Control
- 98-164′ Wireless Range
- 32 Channels, 6 Groups
One TL120 fixture is 46”s long and weighs 2.80 lbs. It draws just 30W of power and can run on internal batteries at 100% for a claimed 150 minutes.
Godox claims the TL120 tube light sports a CRI of 96 and a TLCI of 98, which is pretty impressive for a fixture at this price point. A full-color fixture, the TL120 is dimmable from 0% to 100% and can adjust from 2700K to 6500K color temperature.
It features RGB, HSI, CCT, Gel, and FX controls to provide a vast array of colors and creative effects. This has become fairly standard for all new RGB lights, but it is great to see more options for budget-friendly gear.
Godox TL120 App & Controls
The TL120, like the TL30 & TL60, is controllable via the Godox Light App (iOS & Andriod), a Godox 2.4 GHz Remote Control (sold separately), hardwired through DMX, or by physical buttons on the unit. Please note that the TL30 does not offer DMX.
The mobile application is very similar to what we’ve seen previously from Aputure and other manufacturers. It allows the operator to control the fixtures’ HSI, CCT, and FX presets. It also contains presets to emulate color filters from Rosco and Lee and offers a color picker that can capture and reproduce any color on set.
Price and availability
The TL120 is currently available for order for $299, or $1,299 for a 4 light kit that features a hard case, remote, and additional mounting accessories.
