The big ball is one of my favourite Pokemon simply because someone who designed it submitted it as a catch out in the games, but then the series had to legitimately run with it as an actual creature. Now? It has a major part in the game and I love this new design.
The design also harbours a secret, which is that you’ll want to bring either your usual ground-type, but also, a fire type too. See, Electrode is now grass alongside electric, because it is made of wood. So get to cooking, because it’s time to roast us a ball.
While not particularly difficult to fight in battle, the act of getting there is a little bit of a nuisance as Electrode spawns lots of Voltorbs to explode. So while throwing balms while waiting on it to stun itself into place for you to battle, it will also spawn a tracking ball of electricity to get you. The blue one is faster, but the yellow one will catch you out if you don’t dodge appropriately.
Aside from this, Electrode is known for exploding, so of course, avoid that like the plague. Dodge, run and get out of the circle as fast as you can, which when it sets off, will stun the creature long enough for a battle and balm throwing.
This is part of our ongoing Pokemon Legends: Arceus guide series, with everything to do with the game and more – including Pokemon Go – all living in our dedicated hubs for the games!
Your goal, if you’re not great with dodging, is to throw as many of the balms as possible and ensure you bring it down to halfway. This way, if you happen to blackout, you’ll be able to restart from the halfway mark by choosing to continue the battle.
