Last Updated:

There’s been a bit of a resurgence in skating video games lately with games like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater making a big comeback. Now OlliOlli World is set to take the hit indie 2D skating game into the 3rd dimension, at least visually. This third entry in the popular series is going to be landing on PS4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC early this year.

OlliOlli World was originally revealed back in April 2021 at one of Nintendo’s Indie World showcases and seems to be taking the series in a bit of a new direction. Historically OlliOlli games have used fancy-looking pixel art, but the latest game in the series appears to be taking more inspiration from the work of Pendleton Ward.

OlliOlli World Release Date

During the initial reveal presentation, the developers were aiming for a release in the Winter of 2021. As with so many games over the past couple of years, the devs had to delay and push the game back until 2022. The final release date, according to the publisher, is going to be February 8th, 2022 on all platforms.

Back in November of last year, it was also announced that the publisher Private Division would be acquiring OlliOlli World developer Roll7. Clearly, the publishers have faith that OlliOlli World is going to be a success.

OlliOlli World Trailer and Details

When it comes to gameplay, it seems like things are going to be more in-depth than ever before. At their heart, the original two OlliOlli titles were very simple, arcade-like games. The main focus has always been on the simple action of performing tricks on a 2D plane to collect stars and complete challenges.

While the original game did feature a daily challenge and a pro-mode of each run, that was the extent of their gameplay. OlliOlli World has added a brand new Gnarvana mode that lets players compete on leaderboards, earn rewards, and even share new tracks to skate on using a code system that will work cross-platform.
