Smartphones now set for the 200MP camera era

[ad_1]

A few years ago, a 16MP sensor is just enough for a smartphone. However, the rapid development of the smartphone industry has seen a significant rise in the pixels of cameras. Now, there are a plethora of smartphones with a 108MP camera. However, the megapixel increase will not stop at 108MP. The smartphone market is now set and ready to receive a smartphone with a 200MP camera. Motorola has at least two high-end flagships which will be official later this year. One is the Motorola Edge 30 Pro while the other is the Motorola Frontier.

200MP camera

The Motorola Edge 30 Pro already has the Bluetooth SIG certification. This model is the global version of the Motorola Edge X30 and will be official in the European market in the near future. In addition, the Motorola Frontier will also debut in the second half of the year. However, this smartphone will come with a 200MP main camera. It will make history as the first smartphone to come with a 200MP camera. According to reports, the 200MP Motorola new smartphone uses the Samsung ISOCELL HP1 sensor. The unit pixel area is 0.64μm, and it supports ChameleonCell pixel synthesis.

In a dark light environment, this 200MP sensor can synthesize 1.28μm large pixels to generate 50MP proofs, or synthesize 2.56 μm large pixels to generate 12.5MP proofs. In addition to the 200MP camera, this smartphone also comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus SoC. This chip is based on TSMC’s 4nm process. It is the most powerful 5G chip in the Android camp, and its performance will surpass that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Xiaomi and Samsung also set to use a 200MP camera

In addition to Motorola, there are also speculations that Xiaomi and Samsung will use a 200MP camera this year. Omnivision recently released a 200MP camera (OVB0B) for smartphones and other mobile devices. There are reports that the Xiaomi Note 11 may arrive with this sensor. Furthermore, there are also speculations that next year’s Samsung Galaxy S23 series will use a 200MP camera. Then, of course, we have the Xiaomi MIX 5 which is speculated to launch later this year. There are also reports that this flagship smartphone will use a 200MP camera.

To make it easier for users to capture fleeting moments, Samsung equipped the ISOCELL HP1 with fast and accurate autofocus. This is possible thanks to the image sensor’s Double Super PD phase-detection technology. Double Super PD technology contains twice as many autofocus pixels as Super PD. Those pixels have AF micro-lenses that allow you to focus on fast-moving objects faster and capture stunning content.
