Wow! What a fantastic little mini drone for novice users. With this entry level drone, you can learn to fly successfully in minutes. I took the first 10 minutes to learn the basics of the controller, to adjust the “drift” and to learn the basics of flying this drone, and then plugged in the second battery that came with the drone and the sky is the limit… let your imagination take over! Play with the drone, learn to skirt in and out of tight spaces, through obstacles, do 360’s, and whatever you can dream up. Just don’t let it get too far out of range, as it does have an approximate 90 foot range that you no longer have control. The DEERC D20 mini-Drone comes in a nice, compact carrying case loaded with the drone, the controller, 2 rechargeable batteries and charging cord, an easily read user manual and accompanying items to help you take off into space with this cool little instrument of fun. The user manual is a helpful item for a new flier to learn how to fly. It is easy to understand and gives helpful pointers to help the novice pilot in getting familiar with an entry level drone. There are two quick charging batteries for the drone, with each battery giving approximately 8-10 minutes of flight time. Having two batteries allows the user to be able to charge both and double the flight time, having charged both, and then once the first battery is exhausted, charging it while flying with the other charged battery. My drone pulled left (drifted left) initially, but with my handy-dandy little instruction manual, I quickly learned how to adjust the drone and it was able to hover nicely in place soon after. The manual instructs on how to correct drifting left, right, forward and backward, as well as how to recalibrate the entire system if ever needed. It is a simple adjustment that only took a few seconds of adjustment to correct. There are many cool features about this drone. The sleek design, the basic, entry level camera, the neat looking LED lights on the drone, and the excellent tricks that the drone has the ability to perform. For a mini-drone, it proves to be a tough unit, able to take some banging around as I was learning how to fly. It can climb approximately 70 feet (estimated) without any issue on a day with a light breeze. Be aware of trying to fly in windy day however, as this lightweight drone does not handle gusty wind very well.Pros:- Ease of use with little initial knowledge of drone flying- Easy to read, easily understood user manual- 2 batteries for the Drone, which allows for a quick trade out in order to fly twice as much without wait- A cool little compact carrying case that holds the Drone, the controller and all supplies handily- A durable, inexpensive, fun entry level mini drone capable of handling lots of maneuvers for an entry level user.Cons:-Windy days are not a friend of this drone due to the light-weight nature of the drone.Overall, this is a great, inexpensive beginner’s mini-drone, and well worth the cost. If you are considering learning how pilot a drone, let this drone be your first experience with drones. You will be surprised how easily you can let your imagination take you to the next level with this starter drone!

I bought the D20 drone from Holy Stone as a gift for my nephew. I already had a small drone that I’ve been flying for a few months, so my review will be based upon that previous experience, and I’m giving the D20 Five Stars! The operation of this drone is a little more simple than what I’m used to (fewer steps to get it flying), so I think it’s perfect for someone just starting out, but I was also impressed by a few things right from the beginning before I even got to that point. First, the arms that have the propellers on them fold in next to the body of the drone, so it’s quite compact and easy to store or transport. Once the arms are extended, it’s a good idea to put on the propeller guards so that they’re protected before flying, and that’s very easy to do (easier than my previous drone) because it’s obvious when they snap into place. The batteries didn’t need much charging before first use, and I noticed that the D20 doesn’t get unstable when the battery runs low like my other drone does. It’s very easy to control and land right up until the point that the battery runs out and needs charging. It comes with two batteries and two chargers, and the Owner’s Manual has a lot of detail in not only English, but also Japanese and German. The camera angle can also be tilted manually up to 90º, which is very handy because you can take pictures or video straight down. The controller for the D20 doesn’t have a lot of buttons, but all of the functions are there, and I actually like the joy sticks on this one better! It’s easier to control them because of their size and texture. The trim function worked great, so this drone was easy to control even inside the house. I prefer flying outside when the weather is nice, but on rainy days, I still want to fly because it’s so fun, so I fly around my living room or even take the drone on a tour through the house, down hallways, and into other rooms. With a little practice, it’s easy, but if you’ve never flown a drone before I recommend you start out in open spaces until you have good control over it.Another nice thing about the D20 drone is that it has lights on both ends, bright white in front on the camera end, and red on the back. This means it’s very visible (better than my other one) and easily seen even in low light or at a distance. I don’t usually use headless mode, but this drone does have that feature, and it worked great. Also, even though this drone is small, it’s actually heavier than the one I’m used to, so it’s a little less affected by wind, but you still need to be careful to not let a strong gust take it away. Luckily, it’s easy to turn up the speed of the propellers, which helps keep it under control if wind is blowing in the wrong direction. The seller, DeeRC, shipped quickly and they sent me a thank-you email stating that they are happy to help if I were to run into any problems.

The media could not be loaded. I chose to purchase this DeerC drone because it had great reviews and seemed like a good way to learn and understand the basics of controlling a drone while being budget friendly and durable enough to withstand the initial mistakes I was pretty sure I would make. It’s pretty small and not intended to be flown in heavy wind conditions but it can be flown outside when the weather is nice. More importantly, it can be flown indoors, which would allow me to practice without losing it on my first flight! It has many of the features a full size drone has, just in a much smaller scale. The camera mounted on it can be manually adjusted to view whats in front of the drone while in flight or can be aimed down to view what’s directly below it. It comes with a handheld remote control that can be used by itself and also has a clamp to hold your smartphone which can be synced with the drone’s flight controls and it’s camera so you can have a live feed sent you smartphone via a wifi signal between the drone and your phone. The app is available for free for both IOS and Android. This way you can choose to control the drone with your phone or with the remote. You can also just control the drone with the remote and have the phone clamped to it and synced to the camera and take photos and videos during the flight which can be saved directly to your phone’s camera roll.So far the weather hasn’t been ideal for a newbie like myself to feel comfortable taking it outside to fly so I have been putting some practice inside the house just to get the hang of the different methods of control and learning to maneuver the drone in tight spaces which can be useful as well.So far I’ve learned the basics when it comes to syncing your phone to it and recording flights with the built in camera. I’ve gotten the hang of lifting off, adjusting the trim, controlling altitude, as well as maneuvering forward, backwards, left, and right, and safely landing the drone. I even had some fun with the different types of 360° flips this little drone can pull off! It really is a lot of fun. And based on the mistakes I made in the process of learning, I have to give it credit for its durability! It comes with an extra set of propellers but due to the propeller guards I haven’t broken any yet!The video I posted along with this review is one of my earlier flights, adjusting the trim, testing the controls out and doing a couple flips before landing. For anybody interested in a small but durable drone, I strongly recommend this product. As long as you follow the instructions and take it slow you can easily learn to fly this drone, capture videos and photos, do fun tricks, and land safely. When you have nice days that aren’t windy you will already know how to control it and have the confidence to take it out on an outdoor flight. I’m sure you can capture some interesting photos and videos or even use it for things like examining the rooftop of your house or other hard to reach areas. Friends can film each other skating and capture really cool videos. For what it is I give it 5 stars and think it’s the perfect starter drone for those who are interested in the hobby and what to gain some experience without it costing an arm and a leg!

The media could not be loaded. I was asked to be a tester for this drone. It arrived quickly and we were up and running in almost no time. After 1 flight, I lost the controls to my 8-year old who rapidly was hovering in no time.Pros:- I really like the packaging. It comes with a case to carry everything.- Includes 2 batteries and 2 chargers. Great for charging 1 battery while flying on the othe- Cartridge type batteries. I like that there was no opening hatches and pulling on wires/connectors to change out the battery. Just slide out one battery and slide in the new one- Good battery life- Fairly tough; survived 25+ crashes- Easy to install iPhone app that was very intuitive- Very fast compared to a couple of other drones we have. I played drone “chase” with my son and I could easily outrun his HS140.- Folding arms/motor into a very compact formCons- I prefer separate trim buttons. The remote has 1 trim button that puts the remote into trim mode. The joysticks are then used input the trim settings. The drone is uncontrollable while trimming. The trim mode does time out after about 2 seconds if there is no stick input. However, I had to get out of trim mode while still not trimmed out completely, just to get the drone back under control (especially outdoors with a little bit of wind).- Very grainy video. HS140 seems to have a better camera, but it is also much bigger.- The transmitter holder for phones did not fit my iPhone 7+ with a phone case installed. The holder is a spring loaded clamp where the clamp extends to get the phone in. It should extend a little more to accommodate larger phones.- I don’t like the pushbutton for transmitter on and off. With the door/phone holder closed, you can’t tell if the transmitter is on. It does have different sounds for on and off. I prefer an on/off switch with a large LED like the HS140We flew the drone a lot for about a week before it finally broke. I admit I crashed a few times, but my 6 and 8 year olds were very hard on the drone, as were some other children in the neighborhood. I was very impressed that such a small drone survived as long as it did. In the end, the plastic gear attached to the motor shaft spin and it appears that the inside of the gear is melted. I tried to take some pictures to see the damage. This was most likely the last crash where the motor was trying to spin the prop that was being prevented from rotating. Conclusion:I really like the drone. The advantages/features greatly outweigh the disadvantages/weaknesses. I do recommend this for more experienced drone pilots. It did not stand up too well to the abuse my young children provided. Great value/product for the price.

I recently purchased two of the DeeRC D20 drones. One for a grandson, and one for myself.I have had years of experience building and competing with R/C cars, fixed wing aircraft, and helicopters. I’ve never owned a drone before. My thoughts were to start out simple before advancing further, as I did in the past. This is a great drone for anyone starting out. It is full of features that are seen on more expensive drones. The default setting is mode 2, as used with helicopters here in the U.S. My skills are somewhat rusty, but I’m sure they will come back quickly. So far the weather hasn’t cooperated much until yesterday so I had limited flight indoors.Indoor flight is very safe. Use the propeller guards just in case! Outdoor flights yesterday were very smooth. Due to my rusty skills, I didn’t want to chance flying in any breeze above 5 mph, which was the norm over the last week. You can use the controller for all basic functions. Using the app on your phone opens up much more. The app works very well with one small bug. In locking in the compass/gyro you must move both control levers to the 5 o’clock position simultaneously for mode 2, NOT the 7 o’clock position. The video on the app, and the written manual are in conflict. My flights averaged about 7 minutes on either battery. There is a warning that sounds, and blinks when you have about one minute of flight time remaining. I usually land right away, as you will notice a decrease in power if there is a breeze, and it shortens the time to recharge. I’m not expecting much from the camera. Many drones in this price point don’t even have one. Controlability is very good. For now, I’ve flown within a 100 ft. radius, and max altitudes of 50 or 60 feet. All good! Another tip to pass on, is when installing the prop guards, one tab may come a tad loose when you are clicking in the other. Give both tabs a squeeze to insure they are seated properly. Is it worth it? I would give it more stars if I could. Well worth what you will spend for something to learn on, and have fun with!I noticed that it is sold in a version without the case. Get the case! It’s nice to have, and is decent quality as well.

For the price, this is probably the best drone money can buy. The blades come with a protective frame that reliably keeps the blades from damage following any potential crash. It’s loaded with features that make it a lot of fun for kids and teenagers. It’s definitely a great gift to get that delivers 20 minutes of fun.

This drone gifted to my youngest son for Christmas, is a soaring success. The HD camera and easy remote control have turned backyard adventures into thrilling aerial escapades. The compact design and user-friendly features make it an ideal drone for younger kids, spreading joy and excitement during the festive season. Since it’s cold outside, he’s been flying it in the house, but carefully.
