Next to Southern food I guess my family loves Italian best. We love dishes like lasagna, spaghetti, meatballs and anything that contains Italian spices. This is my favorite lasagna recipe. Just add a nice green salad and some Italian garlic bread to this recipe for a great meal anytime. You might also like our recipe for baked spaghetti.
Lasagna simple ingredients needed:
Ground beef
Onion
Italian seasoning or oregano
Salt
Dried parsley flakes or fresh chopped parsley
Dried basil leaves or Fresh chopped basil
Minced garlic
Tomato paste
Tomato sauce
Diced tomatoes
Lasagna noodles
Parmesan cheese
Mozzarella cheese
Large curd cottage cheese or Ricotta Cheese
This keeps well for several days in the refrigerator and can be reheated in the oven or microwave. You could cut this recipe in half to make less.

Favorite Lasagna
Servings: 8 servings
- 1 1/2 to 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 large onion peeled and chopped
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning or oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes or 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves or 1 tablespoon fresh chopped basil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 2 6 ounce cans tomato paste
- 1 8 ounce can tomato sauce
- 1 14.5 ounce can diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 1 pound box lasagna noodles
- 1 1/2 cups finely shredded parmesan cheese
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 24 ounce container large curd cottage cheese (can use ricotta cheese)

In a large skillet on top of the stove combine ground beef, onion, Italian seasoning, salt. parsley, basil and minced garlic. Cook until ground beef is browned and drain if needed. Add 2 cans of tomato paste, the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes and simmer uncovered about 30 minutes.

Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions to al dente, rinse in cold water and dry on paper towels. Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray and layer half of the meat mixture, noodles, cottage cheese, parmesan cheese and mozzarella. Repeat with another layer. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes until brown on top. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
This keeps well for several days in the refrigerator and can be reheated in the oven or microwave. You could cut this recipe in half to make less.
