Chinese manufacturing giant, Huawei, has been struggling in the smartphone market. However, the company is not giving up on the smartphone market. Huawei has since reiterated that it will neither give up on nor sell its smartphone business. Furthermore, Huawei executives claim that the company is not competing presently, it is only surviving. For Huawei to survive, it will have t keep releasing smartphones. Last year, there were reports that the Chinese manufacturer will release the new Huawei Mate 50 series flagship smartphone in early 2022. Earlier reports show that the Mate 50 will use both Kirin chips and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1. However, the latter will be the 4G version and nothing more.
Recently, reports from a Weibo tech blogger @菊厂影业Fans claim that the Huawei Mate 50 will have two versions. He claims that this flagship smartphone will have 4G and 5G versions. According to him, the engineering model comes with the rest of the HiSilicon Kirin 9000 5G chip. This is quite a surprise because we all thought that the company had exhausted its Kirin 9000 5G inventory. Apparently, Huawei has a few chips left that it will use for the Mate 50. The report also claims that the Huawei Mate 50 will be the basic version and has the smallest screen.
Huawei Mate 50 series will arrive this year
Derek Yu, president of Huawei’s consumer business in Europe and Canada, previously revealed that the Huawei Mate 50 series will be unveiled in 2022. He also reveals that this smartphone will arrive at a global conference, and will come with the HarmonyOS out of the box.
When talking about how flagship mobile phones will develop in the European market in the future, Derek Yu also said that Huawei will continue to invest in flagship mobile phones, especially foldable screens, and of course Mate and P series. He revealed that the Shanghai R&D Center is working on 5G chip solutions. The Chinese manufacturer is hopeful that its flagship mobile phone’s support for 5G will return one day.
In November last year, Tencent Shenwang reported that Huawei has not given up on the mobile phone business. Yu Chengdong said at the consumer business internal conference that Huawei’s mobile phones will continue and “the king will return in 2023”.
There are also speculations that the Huawei Mate 50 series will officially arrive in February. Nevertheless, @菊厂影业Fans believes that this report is outrageous. He claims that the Mate 50 series still has some problems that the company needs to solve. Thus, February is very early for a launch.
