Want to know how to make ketchup in a pinch?  This is an easy way if you run out and don’t want to make a trip to the grocery.  I think this ketchup is as good as the store bought and we love it on French fries or hamburgers.  You can double or triple the recipe.  This ketchup keeps in the fridge a couple weeks.  Most people won’t be able to tell the difference if you don’t tell them.

How to Make Ketchup Simple Ingredients Needed:

Tomato paste (you can use homemade tomato paste, too)

Honey

White vinegar

Water

White granulated sugar

Salt

Onion powder

Garlic powder

Cayenne or can use black pepper

Easy substitutions and additions:

  • 1/2 corn syrup or maple syrup in the place of the honey
  • Cider Vinegar in place of the white vinegar
  • pinch of ground cloves, ground allspice for cinnamon if you want it more spicey
  • add basil or Italian seasonings for a different flavor
  • add liquid smoke for a smokey flavor, wonderful on burgers!

You can freeze homemade ketchup in a ziplock bag for up to six months. This ketchup keeps for 2 weeks in an airtight container.
