These Amish Caramel Dumplings are so good! I found this recipe in an old cookbook and switched it up a bit to make it fit our taste, but it’s pretty close to the original. I made more sauce as we love caramel, and I knew my family would want extra. This is the perfect sweet treat! Serve warm and top with ice cream.. OH MY.. so good!
Amish Caramel Dumplings Ingredients Needed:
Flour
Baking Powder
Butter
Vanilla Extract
Sugar Milk
Salt
Brown Sugar

Amish Caramel Dumplings
This delicious dessert will become a family favorite!
Servings: 6 servings
Dumplings Ingedients:
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup milk more or less
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Syrup Ingredients:
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Dumpling Instructions:

Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt in a bowl. Grate or cut cold butter into small pieces and cut into flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add sugar, milk and vanilla extract to flour mixture to make a dough. Can add more than 1/3 cup milk if needed to get dough to hold together.
Syrup Instructions

Combine water, brown sugar and butter in a pot on top of the stove. Bring to a boil. Cover with lid. Drop tablespoons of dough mixture into syrup. Cover and simmer 6 to 7 minutes until dumplings are cooked.

Serve with ice cream or whipped cream on top. Good hot or cold. Can sprinkle on nuts of your choice. Makes about six servings.
