Programming was easy, done first try. Works great, better than original remote that came with the tv.

Purchased to bridge our TV with Roku Stick and works perfectly. Had to figure out to program, but didn’t take too long.

Ok. I have to admit I was really frustrated after receiving this remote only for it not to work after attempting to follow the hard to understand instructions it came with. Then after googling many articles about how to make an RCA universal remote control work I was able to take tidbits of information from each and I figured out how to make this specific remote control work.First: Turn the device you wish to program onSecond: Push and hold the TV button or DVD/VCR button on the universal remote control (according to whichever device you’re trying to program) until the power light on the universal remote comes on.Once the power light on the universal remote comes on continue holding the TV or DVD/VCR button down and push and hold the power button on the universal remote simultaneously until the power light goes off then comes back on. Once the power light on the remote turns off and comes back on you can release all buttons. Now point and aim the universal remote in the direction of the device you’re trying to program. Note: The power light should still be illuminated. Then push the play button on your Universal remote. The power light should start blinking indicating it’s searching for a matching code to your device. Once it finds a matching code your device should power off.Note: You may have to push the play button on your universal remote several times before your device powers off.Last: After your device powers off you’ll notice the power light on your universal remote continuing to blink. While this is happening keep the remote aimed at the device you’re trying to program until the device powers back on again.Note: You may need to push the play button on your universal remote several times until your TV or DVD/VCR player turns back on again.Once your device turns back on you’re done. You should now be able to control your television or dvd/vcr player with your new remote.Hopefully this helps someone and it doesn’t sound too complicated. 😊

I thought I needed a new remote when I just needed to reset my Roku. This works better than the Roku remote. Rechargeable, lightweight and better value. Was able to set it up even with my old TV. I kept it so I wouldn’t have to steal the other remote when my husband falls asleep with it in his hand. If I need another Roku remote, this will be the replacement.

This remote didn’t work with my old TV (40″ RCA w/built-in DVD player), but Amazon made it right, refunded me immediatly. Very pleased. Couldn’t score this purchase on sub-categories as it didn’t have the code needed. But gave top score to “Overall”.

I love the remote, however, I still have yet to be able to program it to my Phillips DVD player. Whether tv is on or off, as it goes through the codes for the DVD player, it will eventually end up reprogramming the TV. I think I will try to unplug the tv in order to reprogram.

I bought this for an Onn. Roku TV. I wasn’t sure if it would work or not because Roku TVs can be kind weird about working other remotes. However I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it worked great! Not only was it easy to sync up but all the function buttons worked perfectly- even the number buttons for channels! This blew me away because I had read several reviews that said RokuTVs won’t read numeric commands. That did not prove true with this TV and remote. I do have a tip for syncing them up though. Both Onn and Roku brands had several codes listed in the manual that could work. Since this was an Onn/Roku TV, I found one identical code listed under each brand code so that is the one I used and it worked!

Great remote. Only the Guide-Home and OK button/arrows illuminate. Some very similar models only the OK button/arrows illuminate. The biggest PITA with remotes like this is remembering how to program them when the day comes when you need to and the instructions are long lost. So, as a service to human-kind, here are some instructions in a font you can read, copy and paste and enlarge to whatever level you need.RCA Remotes – DVD or VCR1. Turn ON the device to program.2. Hold DVD-VCR + 3 (for DVD, DVD-VCR +2 for VCR) (flashes twice) – sets mode of programming to DVD (3) or VCR.(2) You don’t have to do this step for TVs or Satellite boxes.3. Hold DVD-VCR + POWER until power button lights and stays lit.4. Enter Shortcut Code: (different for TV, DVD-VCR, SAT/Cable) – optional 0-Phillips/Mag 1-Panasonic 2-Samsung 3-Sony 4-Toshiba (skip this step to just cycle through every make and model, takes longer)5. Press POWER button, wait 3-5 seconds to give device time to react.6. Press STOP if device turns off.7. Repeat steps 5 and 6. Press POWER, pausing until device turns off. Press STOP when it does. Remote leaves programming mode. Each time you press the POWER button, the next code is being tried.RCA Remotes – TV1. Turn ON the device to program.2. Skip step 2 on TV, only one option for the TV button.3. Hold TV + POWER until power button lights and stays lit.4. Enter Shortcut Code for TVs (different for TV, DVD-VCR, SAT/Cable) – optional 0-LG 1-Panasonic 2-Philips/Mag 3-Samsung 4-Vizio (skip this step to just cycle through every make and model, takes longer)5. Press POWER button, wait 3-5 seconds.6. Press STOP if device turns off.7. Repeatedly press POWER, pausing until device turns off. Press STOP when it does.RCA Remotes – SAT/CABLE1. Turn ON the device to program.2. Skip step 23. Hold SAT-CBL STREAM + POWER until power button lights and stays lit.4. Enter Shortcut Code: (different for TV, DVD-VCR, SAT/Cable) 0-Apple 1-Netgear 2-Ruku 3-Western Digital 4-AT&T 5-Comcast 6-DirecTV 7-Dish Network 8-Time Warner 9-Verizon (skip this step to just cycle through every make and model, takes longer)5. Press POWER button, wait 3-5 seconds.6. Press STOP if device turns off.7. Repeatedly press POWER, pausing until device turns off. Press STOP when it does.
