Oct 2016I bought a CS540 to replace my aging CS70NC that was failing fast. I looked into replacing the battery, and maybe the crumbling earpiece, but the cost was more than I wanted to spend to rehabilitate old stuff. I had been very satisfied with my old Plantronics unit and was glad to see that the company was providing an improved model. The CS540 base unit is smaller, has more visible indicator lights, improved switches, and is compatible with the handset lifter I already owned. So I ordered it from Amazon and two days later was again enjoying clear sound and amazing range. I work from home and often roam during phone conferences (more coffee, fetch files, etc.). My old Plantronics headset let me get a few rooms away before losing the signal, but the new CS540 lets me get to every room in my 2 story house with no noticeable loss of signal. The CS540 can be used over-the-ear or over-the-head, but I find the lightweight earpiece to work very well resting on my ear. The mic boom is slightly adjustable toward my mouth, and very adjustable up and down. So finding a comfortable position is easier than with the older model. It’s easy to forget that I am wearing it.The CS540 sound quality adjustment switches are much easier to understand and use than the older model. A call to the Plantronics 1-800 number is a quick way to get the settings correct, followed by a call to someone willing to answer your questions about “how does this sound?” In my case the switches required only minimal adjustment from the factory settings. The person I called said she could not tell I was speaking over a headset. And I could hear her as if I were listening on the phone’s regular handset. The CS540 is a very well made device. My only minor complaint is the lack of printed instruction manual. The unit comes with a multi-language foldout that is adequate for the initial connection to a desk phone, but it doesn’t clearly explain other features such as indicator lights, headband attachment, advanced setup switches, etc. A more complete manual is available online, but I saw what seems to be a few errors related to the advanced switches (for wide-narrow band radio settings, and headset pairing). Despite the errors, I was able to figure it out well enough such that I spent no more than 10 minutes from the time I opened the box to when I was all done with installation and setup. If you spend a lot of time on conference calls I can recommend the CS540 as well worth the extra cost. I’ve used many other headsets, both wired and wireless, and also Bluetooth, and none of them come close to the quality of Plantronics products. Also: don’t skip the automatic handset lifter. It’s a clunky looking gadget but it works very well.

We’ve been using these headsets with our Polycom office phones for the last 3-4 months and the work very well. These are probably the best wireless headsets I’ve ever used. Here are the things I like about them:1) These are light-weight & comfortable. Since I often wear mine for 10-12 hours a day, this is very important.2) The sound quality is excellent. It really is like talking directly on a wired headset.3) One major problem I’ve had with Plantronics headsets in the past is that they aren’t very good with eliminating wind noise. Fortunately, these perform very well in this area. I can talk just fine under a ceiling fan or walking outside by the shop with no issues.4) Having an effective wireless headset really frees me up to get stuff done while on the phone all day.5) The range is very good. We can walk all over a 3000 square foot space without issues. It does reach the edge of its range when we go out to the outdoor shop; but, that should probably be expected.Even though I love this headset overall, there are a few issues:1) By default, the headsets come with a cable that hooks up just fine with Polycom phones – but they don’t support the answer/hang-up button on the headset. That basically means you have to be by the phone to either answer or hang up from a call. The best way we found to resolve this is to use the Plantronics 38439-11 EHS Cable , which is a great addition to this phone. The downside is that it’s kind of expensive for just a cable…2) There are multiple people working in a small space, and I’m regretting that everyone else has so much mobility. I mean, come on! It’s OK for me to pace all over the office, but not everyone else. :)Overall, I would highly recommend this headset to anyone who is using an office phone and doesn’t want to be tied down to their desk all day – especially if you spend a lot of time on the phone.

I bought this item as a replacement for my old CS55. My CS55 worked fine in my last two offices but when I came to my new job customers would tell me that they couldn’t hear me when I spoke to them. I could hear them, but I would cut in and out and it was quite frustrating. This product came on time and worked perfectly out of the box (despite the UPS box showing up like it had been mauled by a bear with chainsaws for arms…great job UPS…but I digress). This was very easy to setup and the base is actually smaller than the old CS55 which is great for the limited space on my desk. It came nearly fully charged and was ready to use in about 20 minutes. I use the headband+earpiece because it is more stable than just the earpiece, and it it sits comfortably over my head. The sound coming through into my ear is clear and crisp. The volume and mute button is much easier to use than on the old CS55, it protrudes more and is easier to push. The volume button makes a toned noise as you go up and down which is somehow kind of nice and refreshing. There is also a light on the base…green means it’s on, flashing green means it’s charging, and red means you have it on mute.I am able to wander further from my desk than with the old CS55. In fact, I could go through a door to our kitchen area which is separated from our office by a central dividing wall and I could still hear the conversation and speak as well. I can now get more coffee while on long calls. The actual microphone arm is more versatile from an adjustment standpoint, instead of only rotation on an axis it is actually more of a ball and socket type thing which allows for some spherical adjustment (up and down as well as closer and further from your mouth). The best is that there is zero interference from the 20 other wireless headsets in my new office.I am extremely satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it to any sales professional.

I use this daily at work. No my supervisor wouldn’t purchase one- so I bought my own and a coworkers. It’s nice that both the headband and earpiece option is available. I like the headband option and my coworker uses hers as an ear piece. You would not want to share these as the ear piece does go into your ear. It was difficult at first to set up, but now it’s easier. I can hear clearly, I get a full 8 hours out of it. There is a charging station that I put it in overnight.

I literally could not function without this device and the Plantronics HL10The company I work for is a busy retailer/warehouse and I am not always able to be at my desk. There are offices between my counter and the warehouse- this wireless phone still maintains signal through that – the shelves of goods – and starts to lose signal once I am outside 200 ft away on the other side of a cement wall. That’s pretty good!My biggest “issue” is my output quality. More often than not, people on the other end state they can not hear me- I thought maybe I was not speaking loud enough- BUT i feel like I’m almost yelling for people to hear me. Maybe an update to the noise cancellation would help? Software is not my forte’. This is the only drawback I have experienced with the device.

This headset is easy to install and works perfectly. The front desk team at my office loves them. Good range and comfortable to wear.

Edit 06-21-22—–Cannot find a battery for this unit. The connector for every single so-called compatible battery has a 2 pin female connector but the headset is a 3 pin male connector.I’ve looked up the EXACT PART NUMBER ON THE ACTUAL BATTERY AND ALL THAT DISPLAYS IN SEARCH RESULTS ARE “COMPATIBLE” batteries, ALL OF WHICH ARE 2 PIN FEMALE CONNECTORS.If you buy this model, be prepared to buy an entire new headset when it comes time to replace the battery.————-I’ve been using an old CS-55 unit that finally just gave out. It lasted 10 years. This new one is very comfortable (I use the over-the-band) and lasts HOURS! It recharges quickly and is lighter than my old CS-55.During tax season I use this thing for 8 to 10 hours a day. I may purchase a 2nd to use in case I have a heavy phone day and don’t have any time to wait for a recharge on one unit.

I have used plantronics for years. I love being able to keep working with my hands while I am talking. It keeps me from getting behind.
