The cable connectors are good and easy to plug in to my HD600 headset. Cable is heavier than the original one, and is the same length. They are the same length as the original when holding them side-by-side. The cable is round and heavier than the original flat cable. The original is not as sturdy and was damaged.I bought this unit because I wanted a 1/4-inch connector to go into my receiver without having to use an adapter. My receiver(s) have 1/4 inch plug sockets. I did not want to have to upsize from the tiny connectors commonly used for computers and small devices. Adapters make it stick out and subject to damage. I could always downsize the cable with an adapter for 1/8-inch devices is needed, but honestly, why would I use the HD600 with a laptop or something. Probably my Grado SR60 headset is more suitable for other purposes. The sound is excellent using the HD600 headphone with the new cables and my Sansui G-8000 receiver to play vinyl records on the Phillips 212 turntable with a good cartridge. Good kit, IMO. I don’t expect the cable to have much influence on the sound, but the connectors are good quality, which is most important to me.

EDIT FOR MARCH 2019- I have now put them in the junk drawer after 7 months, due to poor construction, with the right channel being iffy and then the left channel a week later being worse than the right. Luckily I could fall back on my HD558 for tv and movies, and will buy a better cord later.. On the up side, being a cable freak that enjoys testing, I discovered without a doubt that for the price of an XL loaded pizza I could nicely improve the sound of my HD600 cans for 7 months.END EDIT*If you have the horrible original cable for the HD600 headphones then these will be a very nice upgrade in sound quality and overall durability. I never was a big fan of the lack of bass in the HD600 and preferred the HD558 that I own for OVERALL sound. Now with the new cord on the HD600 I like them much more than before. I was actually thinking of trying to trade them up for some HD650 phones, but I’m liking the fuller sound now, with more midrange and bass. Realize it’s not a HUGE increase in the lower frequency, but it’s a definite change for the better that I notice and find very pleasing. The original HD600 cable with the small red and black plugs and 3.5mm plug really stinks compared to this one. It’s amazing that this cord isn’t standard on the HD600 phones. *** Check out one of the biggest bargains on cables ever– Audioquest Silver Extreme from HCM Audio. I’m using them with my HD600 both as a digital coax and analog interconnects from DAC to amp for tv and movies. I’m loving the difference that pure silver makes.************* When I can afford it I’m thinking of the Etsy seller called AmplifierSurgery for better HD600 cables.

This Sennheiser cable fit my HD600 perfectly and eliminated the channel cut out that I was experiencing from the cables that originally came with the headphones. There are several differences between the original cable and the new cable. First the new cable is a couple of feet shorter. For me, that was positive but that will be a matter of individual preference. Secondly, the cable is somewhat thicker. I like the somewhat more substantial feel of the new cable. Third, the new cable terminates in a 1/4″ phone plug whereas my original cable terminated in a 3.5 mm plug with a 3.5 mm-1/4″ adapter. I now use an adapter I already owned most of the time. Again that is a matter of personal preference and since I use the headphones in devices with use both size jacks (my Denon receiver has a 1/4″ jack and my computer uses a 3.5 mm jack) I have to have an adapter part of the time regardless of the plug. Fourth, the original cable had a red plug for the right channel headphone and a black plug for the left channel headphone. The replacement uses black for both although both sets are molded with L or R on the plugs. It does make it easier to identify the right earpiece when the cable uses a different color than the left side.I am pleased with the new cable. I can tell no difference sonically between the new cable and the original cable other than moving my head no longer cuts off the signal to one channel or the other the way the original cable had developed the bad habit of over the last 15 years.

There are those who insist on creating new neural pathways in their brains through evermore superior headphones and upgrades.I am not one of them; and I am certainly not looking for a short-cut to the nearest brain-infarctus. I like my classical music; classical music ONLY. I do not need to be “blown away” by artificial sounds or to be taken away from any natural reflective response to Art-music either. Used to the natural accoustics of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, I know what to listen for. This most definitively influenced all my individual choices. There are a lot of specialists who will sweep you off your feet with a lot of information and personal opinions are abounding on the internet. But they all tell you the same thing: apart from true technical progress, much depends on the choices of the hi-fi equipment, the genres of music listened to, the way one listens to the music and one’s own disposition. So, the choice of an upgrade may be very specific. My Sennheiser HD-580 headphones (with their original fine and too delicate cable) driven by a powerful Denon DCD-1450, demanded a much-needed upgrade. This sturdy, official Sennheiser replacement-cable (compatible for esp. the high-end series HD-650, HD-600 and HD-580, made a great difference indeed and greatly improved the sound-signature, as well as the sound-stage. The sound from my headphones is stronger now, bolder and has a well-balanced overall image. Earlier worries about the somewhat too bright a musical texture, have been resolved with it. I also noticed that the cable, being new, started off very neutrally and needed its time to adjust to the specific colours and demands of classical music; the original three-dimensional sound-stage therefore, is still developing. There is no need to change for the HD-600 or HD-650 now, but for curiosity. In my case, this particular replacement-cable is a great advancement, and, as far as objectivity goes, permits me to fully appreciate what the music and these headphones are “telling” me.

The title doesn’t list compatibility with the HD660S, but I can confirm it’s the same cable as what you get in the HD660S box. I ordered this replacement cable for my pair and it works great!

Replacement cable for Sennheiser HD 650 which I bought due to all the positive reviews. Still pissed that a 400$ pair of headphones would ship with a cord that goes bad after a few months. Also concerned with the overall build, plastic construction, which looks like it would break easily. However, after many months of use the headphones do stand up and still sound great. Sad that I had to replace a faulty cord so soon after purchase but the replacement cord has had zero issues. Since I have read about others with the same issues I cannot dismiss the issue as a one off rare event. Cord will solve the spotty audio from the stock cord and seems to last.

Had to get replacement cable after three years of heavy use. The sound quality in these replacements were noticeably better! My guess is that the chord degrades over about three years of heavy use so you don’t notice the reduction in sound quality over time. This is the best I have ever heard my music.

Got this awhile ago after breaking my original cable, came same day and isn’t noticeable to be a replacement at all! The only difference being the original was able to plug into a normal aux as well but this hasn’t effected me as I use an amp always

Well at least it lasted around 6 more months than the OEM; and its replacement. I bought this one, this would be my third one, because it suppose to be sturdier that the OEM. It is but just for a few more months. What a rip off! I also bought the extra warranty by Square Trade but they would not talk to me unless I talk to Sennheiser first and in the mean time I have no headset.I contacted sennheiser to ask about warranty and they told me that most of their products have 2 year warranty,so they asked me to mail it free of charge. After around 8 weeks they told me that the warranty is 6 months only! I bought extended warranty, we’ll see how that works out.The “good” thing thing about this !!!! cables is that you can order them directly from sennheiser for $10 plus $6 shipping a bit cheaper than amazon $22Well it turned that Seenheiser returned my broken cable. I was ready to initiate the extend warranty and when I opened the box. They sent me a brand new shiny new cable! WOW! That’s service! I am 5 star happy now!
