I needed a lightweight tripod for stationary video filming away from home. I needed a tripod I could set up in a room and shoot over the heads of other participants. This fit the bill perfectly – it really is amazingly tall as fully extended the camera is above my head. And it’s certainly lightweight for travel. That said there are some obvious corners cut for lightness – I wouldn’t use this on a windy day outdoors or with heavy equipment (I shoot micro four thirds so this isn’t an issue with me). It looks like (although I don’t want to scratch it t test) that the ball head may be plastic, and the legs at the bottom are definitely on the thin side, and when fully extended things get noticeably a little flexible – although definitely not loose. But for my needs this is perfect.Good:Tall, very very tall.Light – incredibly lightweightFolds extremely short in reversed position or slightly longer and narrower with the top tube lowered.Good spring-loaded leg angle adjusters.Firm leg lock leversComes with phone holder an extra quick release plate (nice touch!) and metal leg tips for if you’re shooting outdoors on the ground.Fair:Not the sturdiestMaybe a plastic ball head, not the smoothestI wouldn’t trust the leg lock levers in extreme coldIn short, it may be just the thing if you need a fixed position tall tripod for a lightweight camera. If not there are hundreds of others to choose from. For me this is perfect.

I recently got my hands on the SmallRig 71″ Camera Tripod, and it has completely revolutionized my photography game. The build quality is outstanding – the aluminum frame feels sturdy and durable, giving me confidence in its longevity. One of the standout features is the 360° ball head, which provides unparalleled flexibility in framing shots. It’s incredibly smooth and easy to adjust, allowing for seamless transitions between portrait and landscape orientations. The versatility of this tripod is a game-changer. The fact that it can transform into a monopod adds an extra layer of functionality that I’ve found incredibly useful for on-the-go shooting. Plus, the adjustable height range from 16″ to 71″ is a game-changer, enabling me to capture shots from various perspectives. The payload capacity of 33lb is impressive and easily accommodates my professional-grade camera equipment. I appreciate the stability and peace of mind it offers when working with heavier setups. The foldable design is a huge plus for portability and storage. It’s compact enough to fit in my gear bag without taking up too much space.Overall, the SmallRig 71″ Camera Tripod is a top-notch piece of equipment that caters to both amateurs and professionals alike. It’s a versatile, reliable, and durable addition to any photographer’s toolkit. Highly recommended!

Needed something tougher than the Amazon Basic tripod to hold a heavy spotting scope securely. This is definitely the right product. Stable, flexible, easy to make fine adjustments, holds position under heavy scope.

This tripod is fantastic, for a very good price you get a lightweight, versatile, sturdy tripod, the materials look of very good quality. It has more than enough height for any kind of project.

Got this for my dad who likes taking bird photos so that he could digiscope. Holds up well to even a large spotting scope quite sturdily

Can’t go wrong with smallrig, has all the features I need and want minus crybron friber (carbon fiber). Looking for a decent tripod that wont break the bank. I recommend!

Bought this to replace my older style tripod for real estate photography (you know, the ones with the two adjacent handle things?) and it has done it’s job perfectly. Actually shaved my house shoot time down from around 45mins, to around 30mins. That alone makes it worth. The only little quirk this thing has, is the legs slowly become loose overtime. I’ve owned this guy for a couple months and I’ve had to re-tighten the legs just as the first rolls around like clockwork. However, that’s fine with me. I do gear maintenance every week anyway. Overall, I definitely recommend. Just keep an allen wrench close by.

I was looking for a non-RRS everyday tripod and discovered the aluminum SmallRig CT-10 for a relatively great price. Easily converts to a monopod and comes with an Arca Swiss-style QR clamp. With proper precautions, it works fine with my heavy Nikon 70-200 mm telephoto and comes with a smart phone holder. Manual’s not clear about how to set up as a monopod, but answer’s easy to find on YouTube. Levelling bubble on QR clamp knob is weird – see what you think. Ratings based on 2-weeks’ experience.

I like the aluminum build. The leg locking clips are plastic but should last a long time. Happy with my purchase.
