Flavorful & Fresh Mint Sauce

  • Mint sauce is a multi-purpose recipe that’s used as a condiment or a dip when mixed into yogurt.
  • It’s really fresh and flavorful but super easy to make
  • Five ingredients and one step? Yes, please! The flavors are the perfect blend of herbs, vinegar, garlic, and just a little oil.
  • Use it as a sauce for Grilled Lamb Chops, Greek Meatballs, Balsamic Pork Loin, or Grilled Chicken Thighs.

Ingredients and Variations

MINT Choose fragrant leaves pulled from the stems of both the mint and the parsley so the sauce blends smoother. Fresh parsley is milder in flavor so we like to add it to the sauce.

SEASONINGS Be sure to use a small garlic clove so as not to overpower the delicate flavor of the mint/parsley blend. White wine vinegar will give the sauce a mildly acidic bite, red wine or balsamic vinegar are too pungent in this recipe. Fresh lemon juice can be used in place of the vinegar, if necessary.

How to Store

Try to use or freeze mint sauce within a few days of making it since it contains raw garlic which could pose a health risk. Keep covered in a container in the refrigerator or freeze in ice cube trays and then transfer to a zippered bag. Pop out a cube or two for last minutes dips, dressings, and marinades!

  • Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse 2-3 times or just until chopped. The sauce should not be smooth.

  • Chill at least 1 hour before serving.

  • Serve over grilled meats (especially lamb) or with lamb meatballs.

It is important to refrigerate the sauce at least one hour, the flavor will change dramatically as it sits.
Do not use olive oil in this recipe, the flavor is not the same.
The oil will naturally separate, this is expected. Shake before using.
This sauce will keep in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Do not store longer.
Mint sauce can be mixed with fresh yogurt as a dip or served over meat.
