Popular YouTube app for Android devices, YouTube Vanced will be shutting down following a legal threat from Google. For those who are unaware, YouTube Vanced is one of the most popular apps in the community. Furthermore, the modded app offered users the option to stream their favorite YouTube videos without ads. Aside from that, the modded application boasts an impressive array of features.
Moreover, users did not have to shell out a single dime to avail of useful features like background playback. Taking to the Vanced Official Twitter account, the developers announced the discontinuation of the product. Aside from that, they state that the download links to the app will be unavailable in the coming days. The app will continue to work if you have already installed it on your Android device. However, it is likely to stop working sooner or later.

To recall, Google had sent cease and desist letter to the proprietors of YouTube Vanced. As a result, the developers had to halt the distribution and development of the service. A Vanced team admin told The Verge in a Discord chat that the search engine giant asked them to remove references to YouTube. In addition to that, the developers had to change the app’s logo, while removing links to any YouTube product on their website or app.
YouTube Vanced Is Shutting Down
Also, Google has been dealing strictly with the Russian propaganda videos, by removing them from its video-sharing platform. On Sunday, March 13, the creators of the project confirmed the demise of the app via Vanced’s official Telegram channel and Twitter account. Vanced offered a myriad of YouTube Premium features to users for free. For instance, it enabled users to include the dislike countback and watch videos without ads.
Aside from that, the app supports picture in picture mode, allowing users to play their favorite tracks in the background. In a bid to avoid legal engagement with Google, the app had already removed all references to YouTube and rebranded itself as Vanced. In the meantime, Google has been working on a plan that promotes data migration. Moreover, the tech behemoth has become stricter with unlicensed clients such as Rythm and Groovy.
For those who are unaware, Rythm and Groovy are Discord bots that enable users to listen to music on a server. However, these services did not continue after cease and desist letters from YouTube to the developers. Nevertheless, the internet is still teeming with Vanced alternatives. However, users can choose between trying out other similar apps like Newpipe or simply subscribing to YouTube Premium.
